Travel Tales: Asha and Ryan take on food and travel in South-East Asia.
Keep up with our backpacking (or slackpacking) tales as we travel through Nepal, Singapore, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. Armed with a camera and laptop and aided by free wifi and plenty of time, we hope to provide funny travel tales, engaging photos and a monthly video-mash to keep everyone (especially our mums) up to date with what we are upto.
We hope this blog gives an insight into travelling in the south east asian region. We aim to show what to do (and what not to do), where to go and why. We hope to show how much things cost and provide hints or tips we think travellers and backpackers may need.. We also hope the blog can help with travel tips. For example: what to be wary of when travelling by train in Vietnam, which Thailand beaches are the best, what time of year to visit Laos, how much things cost in Cambodia.
Reading personal stories, and viewing photos and videos from the road gives a great first-hand idea of what travelling in a place is really like. Hopefully this site provides some inspiration for those considering such a move.
We also hope to have strong focus on food throughout the south-east asian region. In particular we will focus on street food the everyday food that is the backbone of so much of the region’s cuisine. Once we have finished travelling and settled in the region, we will turn our attention to cooking and blogging. We hope to show our readers how to recreate the flavour of south-east asia, with authentic local recipes and ingredients.
South east asia is a cheap and easy place to travel around. There is just so much to see, do and experience. We hope that this blog will provide a window to our travels and show others just how easy it is to do.
